Regional Intermodal Connections Committee
On September 9, 2022, the SCTPO Governing Board approved a work order that created a Regional Intermodal Connections Committee to serve as the foundation to gain support for building intermodal connections within Brevard County which include an intermodal passenger rail station. Intermodal means the combination of transportation mode choices including air, space, sea, rail, and road. Intermodal hubs facilitate the transfer of people and goods between modes in an efficient and safe manner.
The Regional Intermodal Connections Committee (RICC) met a total of five times during 2023 to discuss mode choices, destinations and what opportunities and challenges there are to developing and building a successful passenger rail station in Brevard. A summary report of each meeting is available at the link below. Specific meeting materials and presentations can be found further down on this page. The next step in pursuing an intermodal station is to conduct an Intermodal Passenger Rail Station Feasibility Study. Information on this study, also being conducted by the SCTPO, can be found on the SCTPO website here: Intermodal Station Study.
