Created by the Federal Highway Administration and spearheaded by the National Coalition for Safer Roads, National Stop on Red Week aims to educate drivers about the dangers of red-light running and to help reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. This year, National Stop on Red Week coincides with the first week of school, making it the opportune time to remind drivers of the importance of ALWAYS stopping on red.
The SCTPO is teaming up with the Palm Bay Police Department for a kick-off awareness event on August 7th, targeting rush hour traffic from8:00 am – 10:00 am at Port Malabar Blvd. & Babcock St. in Palm Bay. This intersection is on the SCTPO's High Injury Network, and is along the Babcock St. corridor, also identified as a High Injury Network segment.
