ADA Bus Stop Assessment
In 2014 Space Coast Area Transit completed an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Bus Stop Assessment to inventory their bus stops and facilities and assess ADA compliance. It also created a Transition Plan to improve the compliance of transit stops and facilities.
Since the completion of the ADA Bus Stop Assessment, improvements have been made on bus stop locations throughout the county, but work still needs to be done.
In October 2017, SCTPO began an update to the ADA Bus Stop Assessment. The project assessed each bus stop, created a database that can easily be updated and used to identify projects and export data, and developed an implementation guide.
In December 2018 the assessment was finalized and reported to the Space Coast TPO Governing Board and committees.
The project created City and County profiles that can be seen in the “Accessing Space Coast Area Transit” booklet to also provide an easy “snap shot” of bus stop accessibility in various areas of Brevard County.

ADA Bus Stop Training
In 2021, the Space Coast TPO held two ADA Bus Stop Trainings, one in person, the other virtual. The purpose of the trainings was to educate local governments, transit partners, and other organizations on what is required in bus stop ADA compliance, what are the standards, and how to better review and develop plans to insure compliance.
