The above image shows Hickory Street in Melbourne after implementation of Complete Streets principals. Improvements are planned from New Haven Avenue to NASA Boulevard and include landscaping and sharrows, which are marked lanes shared by cars and bicyclists. Sharrows are designed to increase the safety and visibility of bicyclists on the road. The addition of traffic calming elements such as raised pedestrian tables and the creation of a festival street near Fee Avenue will improve the safety of pedestrians. Designated parking and improved access to businesses will also be included.

Extensive data collection efforts informed the conceptual design. It is anticipated that the Design phase will begin in FY 2015 and Construction in FY 2018.
