Railroad Quiet Zone Analysis
The SCTPO is coordinating an analysis to assess the applicability of “quiet zones” at specific locations along the Florida East Coast (FEC) rail corridor. This analysis is to address concerns of local jurisdictions about increased warning horn noise along the railway due to the frequency of proposed passenger train travel by All Aboard Florida (AAF).
AAF is working on plans to provide high speed passenger rail service between Miami and Orlando, using existing FEC rail lines. The video below depicts estimated gate crossing times of under one minute.
