The public is invited to participate in a corridor planning workshop towards the development of the SCTPO 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. The workshop will be held from 8:30 am to Noon on Tuesday, March 3rd at the Brevard County School Board Main Board Room, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, FL 32940.
About the Long Range Transportation Plan: The SCTPO is currently working on the 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). This document provides a common vision for the community’s transportation needs and guides the investment of public funds over a timeline of 20 or more years. It provides a framework for choosing projects across all transportation modes.
The LRTP is updated every five years. Public involvement is critical in putting the plan together. Public input thus far has included:
- Four workshops with over 340 participants total
- Two public surveys with over 820 participants
- The development of a website, www.spacecoast2040.com, with over 4,000 views
The 2040 Transportation Vision was adopted by the Space Coast Transportation Planning Board this past fall. The next step is to take a closer look at specific corridors and identify projects that will increase economic vitality, protect natural resources and provide future generations choices in how they live and travel.
Key corridors to be discussed are:
- US 1
- SR 528
- SR 520
- SR A1A
- Fiske Boulevard
- Stadium Parkway
- Wickham Road/Minton Road
- Ellis Road
- Babcock Street
